UK Basketball

I have never been a University of Kentucky Fan, except when I was little and didn't know any better. I watch them and cheer for the opposing team. I know that I'm from Kentucky and I should cheer for them but for some reason I just can't. Don't get me wrong I cheer for a Kentucky team: Louisville. North Carolina and Duke are some teams I also like which are team that Kentucky people despise. I realize that Kentucky was a great team back in the day and have a lot of championships under their belt.
When I was in Middle school, Graves County went to the Sweet 16 in basketball at Lexington. That also happened to be the same week that Kentucky played North Carolina. We went shopping at the mall to kill time and everything North Carolina was on sale. I begged my dad to get me a North Carolina Starter Jacket. (You remember the big puffy jackets with the teams logo on the back) He debated it for a long time and finally broke down. He said "If I buy this for you, you have to walk ten steps ahead of me at all times while we are on this trip!"
Maybe this is why I despise Kentucky! Local Paper and News report trouncing of Tennessee State, torches Appalachian State, and Crushing of Lamar.I realize that teams schedule these teams for a better record and to get better during the season but the media using words like trouncing, torching, and crushing just make me mad. Here is an example: I have a word for all of you Kentucky fans that might make you mad: Laettner

My life has been crazy the past couple of weeks. I have work about 75 hours this week. First I have my day job (Architect) which is kind of on the drag right now because we don't have much to do. Last week I finished the only project we have in the office. It was more or less a small house so it only took me about a week or so to do. The whole office decorated the Christmas tree for 3 1/2 hours on Thursday. I have my desk clean as a whistle, changed the air fresheners, and cleaned out the drawing file cabinet. I come to work and search for things to do. Friday my boss said that we will take off from Christmas Eve til January 5th. I was surprised but he said that we would get paid for those days, so I was happy. Now I will have to find something to do at home.
My best friend, Terra, parents own the German Roasted Nuts in the mall. They are greatest people and work very hard. I help them out at Christmas time and sell nuts. You should hear some of the jokes as people walk by! I love doing this because it is one way to see people I haven't seen in a while and I get to munch on some nuts every once in a while.
I also worked at Enegy Fitness this weekend. Saturday and Sunday are pretty much laid back there but just getting ready for the next week is a struggle when you don't have a lazy Sunday afternoon to kick back and watch some football. I usually get off around 7:30, so by the time I get home and eat it is usually time to go to bed.
I know that I have been working a lot. I'm the type person that can run on 5 hours of sleep and be fine all day. But the older I get I think that I'm needing more sleep. I wake up tired in the morning but my 8 or so I'm kicking it into high gear. Lauren and I can always use the extra but I miss spending time with her and Cosmo. Also working all the time I don't get to eat much. I've been trying to loose weight and I've lost right around 15 lbs.

Election

Tuesday was a big event in our city, district and national elections. If there is anything big going on you better bet Lauren is right in the middle of it. She volunteered at WPSD TV calling polling places to get election results. She was not on the news but she did get onto the website. Check it out! Here

President Black Bush

Long Time No See!

OK first blog in a while. I know that it has been a long time. Heather and Terra can be happy now! I've been really busy lately. For those of you that don't know I now have a second job. I am working part time at Energy Fitness. I love it and I get to work out for free. I have really been watching what I've been eating and I have lost 9 lbs in a month and feel alto better about myself. I was getting the big gut and almost dun lap disease. You know where your belly has dun lapped over your belt.
I have a new nephew. Emery Cole (E.C.) Garton. When Heather told me that she was going to call him E.C. I started to cry because my initials are E.C.W. He is the cutest little booger. Jump on over to Heathers Blog here to see some of his cute Halloween costumes.
Things haven't been so busy lately at the office though. I don't know if everyone is hanging on to their money or what but if you know anyone who need some architectural work send them over. We have had some work but it came to a screeching halt all of a sudden.
I really miss Terra and Nick. They moved to Murray and we don't get to see them as often. They were really the link between a lot of us. Nick and I talk on the phone but that has really phased off. He is on the road all the time with his new job. He is very busy and Lauren and I are so proud of him. Terra also has a new job with America's Mattress in Murry. They are opening a new store in Paducah shortly and hopefully we will get to see them more. We need to plan a trip to Murray to go out with them.
I also miss one of the best brother in laws in the world, David Wesley. He has been gone now for about 3 months. Big David has bought him a plane ticket home for Thanksgiving so I get to see him then.
Debbie and Jeff are coming in this weekend. Haven't seen them in a while either. We usually make several trips to St. Louis to see them but we with gas at $4.00 a gallon and being as busy as Lauren and I are it has just be unimaginable.

Why I want to raise money for The American Heart Association

Growing up Jay Heath and I were best friends. Earlier this year he had a beautiful Baby boy named Kash Morgan Heath. He was born with a little heart problem and had to make a special trip to Louisville. Thank the good lord every went well with surgery.
Kash is the poster child for this years heart walk. That is why I want to raise as much money as I can for the American Heart Association. This morning Jenna, Emily and Kash were at Murry State talking with the Students and Faculity about the walk. If you, your school, business or church has a team to walk in the Heart Walk Sept. 13 come on out. If you don't have a team come on out you can join mine!! Long Lost Friend

Lauren and I have joined Rotaract. We wanted something to get involved in a club. Rotaract is a club for 18-30 year olds that is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Paducah. I went to the Rotary lunch with Pat (my boss) the other day to the at the Irvin Cobb Hotel. The first person I saw that I knew was Amy. It has been over 5 years since we have seen each other. We didn't get a chance to talk but a couple of seconds in the food line. I know her from my first job out of college. I was just a young buck and she was the accountant at Gresham Architectural Firm. We had the best time there at that office. I also knew her from the CD store I worked at in college. The day of my interview I walked in and there she was. I was thinking that I knew her from somewhere and we later found out that she would come in there almost weekly. Time has pasted and both of us had new jobs, we both married and she has had three beautiful kids. I emailed her today and we are going to keep in touch. I always really liked talking to her and missed her when our careers went separate ways. She is a good friend that I wished we could have kept closer contact over the years. We have been emailing back and fourth and hope to see her more at Rotary in the future. Thanks for everything Amy!

What going on

Whats going on in my life:

Lauren is in law school (an unaccredited law school) and the dean told her that they were not going to file for accreditation again until the fall of 2009. Since the law school is unaccredited then if she graduates that means she can't take the bar. Unless she petitions the Kentucky Supreme Court which is a good chance they will say NO! So she is trying to apply to SIU Carbondale but then she would have to quit her job and loose her health insurance. Now with Crohns Disease it is not easy to get health insurance but if she gets it, it will be 400 to 500 dollars a month. But not only will she quit her job the first year of school would transfer, so that means two of her three years of the unaccredited law school would be down the gutter. All that time and money waisted.

We have also hung out with Nick, Terra and Todd here recently and playing "Sing Star" a karaoke game for Playstation 3. It is pretty cool. I have been getting very cocky here lately with it because I have been kicking everyone ones BUT!!! HAHA

Nanny Champion has the best fried chicken. We ate last night over there. We had turnip greens, mac and cheese, rolls, corn bread, pickles, and everything bad for you. Nick has a new job being a sales rep for Holland Grills. He has to do demos and tonight he has to practice for this coming up weekend and Grilling Boston But and Chicken. So we are happy we don't have to cook for two nights in a row. Well I don't have to. Lauren is making Potato salad.

I have also been hitting the gym here recently. I think that I'm a little stressed out from Lauren's Law School problems & Nick and Nanny's good food. Nick, Terra and Todd have been going with me on occasion and it is so much better when someone goes with me. See church has a magnificent Gym. It is the latest and greatest gym without the membership cost. They have several treadmills and elliptical machines plus all the free weights you could want.

Twice in the past two weeks Lauren has walked in on me watching Hanna Montana on ABC Saturday Mornings. A little embarrassing but darn it there is nothing else on. We only get about 20 channels. We are cheap and we don't watch TV much.

Workout

I've been trying to work out a little for the past two weeks. I've been eating and laying around alot before last week. I know it is summer time and we will be out on the boat this summer. I don't want to be the fat kid. I have had trouble getting in some of my pants. The good thing is that I don't have to join a gym and pay a hefty fee for working out. I am a member at a large church here in Lone Oak and they have every piece of equipment that Gold Gym would have. All I have to do is call and get a code from the office every Monday. How great is this. I have even convinced a couple of friends to go with me. I have a lifting partner and a partner to walk on the tread mill with me. Thank god for friends. They help me push through. I plan on getting fit. Not really about losing weight. Just good plain exercise.

Friday, May 23, 2008

This weekend is Memorial Day and we are headed out for several Bar-B-Qs. We are going to the lake and over to a couple of friends of ours. We have to bring pasta salad with us to a friend’s house. I have decided to make the old Wallace favorite: Betty Crocker® Suddenly Salad Ranch & Bacon with crab meat. Now I know that it is really not old but my sister turned me on to it. The first time I heard of it, I was like I'm not eating that. That sounds disgusting crab, ranch and bacon. I have now turned Lauren on to it and she likes it. However she still loves her Italian dressing and spiral noodles which is good also. I'm looking to kind of spice things up a little. I want to make some other kind of Pasta Salad. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Family, Got to love them

Lauren and I went out to eat the other day after I got off work. I came directly from work so when we left I got to the house before her. I went to check the answering machine and there was a course a message from Nanny Champion. Now you have to understand that Nanny is not to knowledgeable of electronics, hence that David Wesley and I have to turn the TV on to CNN so that she can watch Larry King. Don't know why she watches that show anyway. So the message from Nanny was that she needs a perm before her and her friend go on a trip with Debbie and Jeff. This is how she put it.

LAUREN (she yells her name) Do you think I need a little curl before I go on this trip? I was just wondering. Charlotte said that she would give me one (starts whispering like Charlotte is in the next room but not) but she hasn't done it in a long time. And I don't want my hair to frizzy. (Regular voice)Well come over and give me a little curl if you think I need one.

I listen to it twice before Lauren gets home laughing the whole time and have to play it twice for her also. We immediately call Debbie and howl to her. Got to love family.

Crazy

I'm sittng there at my desk and get a email from Anita. Isn't it wierd how we get emails from people we could walk 3 steps to and say hey? Anyway this is one of the many funny things i get from her. Check it out!

Wow! This video is incredible! It's a hike up El Chorro inSpain.Be prepared to feel a bit uneasy in some parts. Why? The concrete paths, once quite good, are now in serious disrepair. Yet the hiker moves on, from time to time, doing a balancing act as he places one foot in front of the other, navigating narrow railway-like ties, all that remain of some parts of the paths. And he makes a point of showing us the dizzying heights. One slip-up, and you would careen down thousands of metres, having time to think about your impending death.Apparently, El Chorro is oneof the most famous rock climbing areas inEurope. With more than 650 bolted climbing routes in an area accessible on foot, El Chorro is an 'El Dorado' for climbers (or a 'Whipsaw' for off-roaders).Because of its location in southernSpain, rock climbing is possible throughout the winter, though it can sometimes be cold and the paths snow-covered. The routes are mostly hard climbs, which is why El Chorro attracts rock climbers from the whole world.

Watch this video in full-screen! It is really worth it.

Olive Oil and Vinegar

The Hill in St. Louis is a landmark in St. Louis history. The Hill is an Italian community. So Italian that they don't even put houses on the real estate market. They sell them by word of mouth. They also have more than 20 Italian restaurants. Of course Lauren and I frequent STL quite often and visit with Aunt Debbie. Those who know Aunt Debbie know her and Jeff love to run around the city and visit every single place in 24 hours. We love going to the hill and eating. Zia's the the place I love. The Chicken Spiedini Proscuitto is the best on the menu. White breast meat marinated, lightly dusted in breadcrumbs, basted in lemon butter and charbroiled. Topped with white wine, lemon butter sauce with proscuitto ham, slicedmushrooms and provel cheese. It makes my mouth water just thinking about it. You think that something like this would be expensive but its not, $12. So if you ever in the STL and want to eat Italian don't go to Olive Garden or Macaroni Grill, Go to the hill and try our favorite place to eat.

Sim City Baby!!

When Heather and I were little we use to play a game called Sim City. This a computer game that allows players to create a region of land and then to design and build a settlement which can grow into a city. Players can zone different areas of land as commercial, industrial or residential development, as well as build and maintain public service and utilities. Heather and I would love to play it but most of the time Heather would hog the computer and would never let me play. She use to have city's as big as New York (not sure she didn't have cheat codes or something) however mine would be just a small city like Symsonia. I was in Best Buy the other day with Nick and Terra wasting time when I saw it there on the shelf. So I decided to buy it. Lauren has started back to school, not working 80 hrs a week anymore, and have some spare time. I got it home and immediatly started to play. It was all coming back to me. Well Heather your time has come, my city is on its way up. Just call me Donald Trump. Before too long Paducah will be asking me for their option on city matters. Watch out Mayor Paxton.

Mayor Wallace doesn't sound like a Mayor's Name.

Today happens to be Valentine's Day. It is also the birthday of one of my best friends. Nick Weber is the one of the best guys in the world. He would be there at the drop of a hat if one of us called and needed him. Although we don't see each other as much as we use to, now that Terra and him and Laurn and I are married. Nick and I have been through a lot together. Vacations, watching UK games, car shows, L.I.T.'s and Nashvegas trips to Graham Central Station. We have moved furniture for everyone in Paducah, worked on trucks and cars together and have eaten the best Bar-B-Q in Memphis. I know that Valentine's Day is about Love, but a Valentine's Day can not go by without thinking of my best friend, Nicholas H. Weber.

It's Freezing literly outside. I had to start my truck yesterday and let it warm up for 30 mins before I could even start to scrap the ice. There was about half an inch over my entire truck. We are very use to snow and rain in this part of the area but ice?

Being sick sucks!!!

On Tuesday I woke up and could not stop coughing. My throat was sore and was feeling weak. I just figured I had a cold and took some Dayquil. I went to work and coughed and hacked all day. Finally around 3 Anita said "Do you feel bad?" I then realized that I was sick. She said "Why don't you go home and get better." I went straight to the doctor and his prognosis was that I had the Flu. The flu sucks. I would rather have my hands run over a cheese grader. I don't mind in being sick on the weekend however that dreadful phone call into work kills me. I hate it so much because I just started this job at the first of December, that I love and I understand that we are super busy and I feel that I need to be there. So being sick sucks.

Thursday, January 31, 2008

So everywhere I go I get looks. It might be that I'm stunningly hansom or people are asking why is the beautiful girl with that ugly man? I'm walked into my great aunts funeral and I heard a wisper. "That's that TV star!"
That's it. Now I know why people stare.
About a year and a half ago my friend Terra called and asked a favor from me . She said I need a Doctor. Well at this point I thought she was in pain and started freaking out. She calmed me down quickly saying she was alright. She works at WPSD TV and then explained that she needs someone to be in a commercial that she is going to shoot. She picked me to play a doctor. Can you believe that? She wants me to be a doctor. I agreed and shot the commercial the in the next couple of days. Terra said that it would probably air around a month and then eventually die out. Well it stayed on around a year and a half and finally died out. It aired around 6 times daily. Usually on first thing in the morning and around the time Dr. Phil was on.
So everywhere I go I'm asked "When did you start working at Sleep Source?" "Can I have your autograph?"
One day while my mother was at Church, a family friend asked my mom if I could come over and look at his sleep apnea machine. My mon died laughing and said "He does not work there! He just plays a doctor on TV."
Life is funny sometimes. Check out my commercials below.

Kash Morgan Heath.

My friend Jay Heath had a baby boy. Kash Morgan Heath was born with a small heart conditions and was flown to Louisville where he will have surgry tomorrow. Please keep Kash, Jay and Emily in your prayers.

Wednesday, January 30, 2008

On Saturday we arrived at the Dallas Airport later afternoon from a long five and a half hour flight from Puerto Rico. Of course Lauren and I both had to tinkle very badly. When we finally found the bathroom my phone rings, now usually I look who would be calling me and maybe silence it and return the call. I look my phone and it was my parents. Now since I had not talked with them in a week because we had been on our honeymoon and out of the country. We planed on calling when we got to our hotel but a $15 a min charge was quite a large sum of money for a young couple balling on a budget.

Anyway so I'm dancing the pee pee dance answering the phone with a backpack on my back. A man was walking into the restroom while I'm trying to block the door. I know he was thinking that i was a crazy nut. My father was on the phone and asked how I was and I responded quickly.

"I'm about to pee my pants, can I call you right back?

He responded just as quickly. "Well call me right back. I need to tell you something."

Now many things are running through my head while I'm running in to the bathroom. What is so important? Is something wrong with someone? Are my parents seriously mad that I did not call when we arrived at our hotel? Are they that anxious to hear about our trip? So anyway I get done and quickly call home.

I was very relieved when my sister answered the phone. I now knew why my father wanted me to talk with my sister. Well we chatted for a while and she said. "We came home to tell you that you were going to be an Uncle. We are about to go back to Dickson and Kyle and I came home to tell the family."

A tear of joy came to my eye. I'm so happy. I'm really happy for them.

"That’s great news." So everyone please pray for my sister as she is pregnant and Kyle as he is going to have many pains along with heather. I can see them laying on the couch, feet in each others hands and massaging each others aching feet.
